Patient care at St George’s: “More like a hotel than a hospital”

December 12, 2025

Every day, patients walk through St George’s doors seeking care, comfort and reassurance and the feedback they share continues to reflect the warmth and professionalism they experience from our teams.

Between July and September this year, 99.7% of surgical patients who completed our survey reported a positive experience across every area of their care, from admission and communication, through to treatment, environment, food, and discharge.

Over the past year, 97% of patients have rated their overall experience positively, reinforcing the consistently high standard of care our teams deliver.

While the numbers speak for themselves, it’s the comments that truly show what this care feels like.

One patient described their stay as exceptional from start to finish.
“I actually think you excelled in every area. There was not one thing lacking. The care was of a very high standard, and the food was top notch.”

Another shared that St George’s remains their first choice for surgery because of the people behind the care.

“The staff are very caring and friendly as well as professional. I always feel relaxed and confident here.”

Many patients commented on the environment itself, often comparing it to a boutique stay rather than a hospital visit.

“St George’s is peaceful, clean and professional, more like a hotel than a hospital. I felt I was in safe hands.”

Across the board, feedback highlighted the friendliness and attentiveness of everyone involved, nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, theatre teams, reception and even the cleaning staff.

“A warm and welcoming experience from the time I arrived through the time I left,” one patient wrote.

“Every staff member was warm and welcoming with a smile. I felt very comfortable under their amazing care.”

For some, even the challenges of recovering post-procedure didn’t diminish their experience.
“I had a very nice and enjoyable stay, despite the pain after the operation. A lovely hospital with amazing staff across the board, many thanks for a wonderful experience.”

These comments reflect more than satisfaction; they show trust, gratitude, and the impact of compassionate care delivered consistently by every member of the St George’s team.

As we continue to grow and evolve, this feedback reminds us of what matters most: helping people feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for when they need us most.
